Every trip can be tailored to suit your group size with all equipment needed. Each package comes complete with kayak or canoe with park permit, paddles, life jackets, spray skirt and bilge pump, dry bags and tie-down straps. Camping equipment includes tents and sleeping bags, stoves, pots, pans and utensils. Leisure Sports is a camping and paddle sports specialty retail store. Anything you may not have at home, Leisure Sports will have in the store.
One to two night overnight trip
String to Leigh Lake (Grand Teton National Park) This trip is great for people of all ages and paddling abilities. An enjoyable family adventure Leigh Lake is close to Jackson. Spend the night in one of America’s great National Parks and experience some of the amazing views of Mt. Moran and Falling Ice Glacier. Leigh Lake is reached by a one mile paddle up String Lake and a short portage. Leigh Lake is limited to non-motorized boats making this lake perfect for a canoe or kayak adventure. There are no developed campgrounds along Leigh lake but enjoy one of the 14 back-country campsites available on its sandy shores.
Two to four night trip
Lewis to Shoshone Lakes (Yellowstone National Park) This trip is for the more experienced paddler. 65 miles north of Jackson and just inside the south gate of Yellowstone National Park lies the Lewis Lake boat ramp. Paddle across Lewis Lake and up the 3.5 mile long Lewis River channel to Shoshone Lake. Shoshone Lake is the largest back country lake in the United States, limited to non-motorized boats. Paddle your kayak or canoe up to the Shoshone Geyser Basin along the western shores of the lake. The basin is a pocket of thermal activity incredibly pristine due to is remote location without the crowds and boardwalks found in other Yellowstone thermal basins. Camping on the lake you will enjoy the solitude Yellowstone has to offer.
Four to Seven Night Trip
Thumbs of Yellowstone Lake (Yellowstone National Park) Yellowstone Lake is an adventure not to be missed for the advanced paddler. Yellowstone Lake is the largest lake in North America above 7,000 ft. The south and southeast arms of the lake are the primary destinations of this trip. Paddlers will enjoy the majestic scenery and abundant wildlife while gliding over the water. From Grant Village arrange a water taxi to take you to the top of the arms where your adventure begins. Spend your mornings paddling exploring the many coves the lake has to offer and fill your afternoons hiking the sandy beaches or backcountry, then relax in the evenings under the endless sky. Please be aware of wind and waves, especially in the afternoon and take precautions for food storage in bear country.
